Байкальский международный экологический конгресс
The Congress operates under the patronage of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO with support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia. The gathering is formally recognized within the global framework of the UN International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024–2033) as well as the domestic Decade of Science and Technology in Russia (2022–2031).
Attendance is expected to exceed 1,000 delegates representing public agencies, scientific institutions, corporate enterprises, and civic groups. The Congress programme comprises a plenary session, a green technology exhibition, specialized conferences, panel discussions, and a global reforestation initiative focused on planting trees along the coast of Lake Baikal. An official compendium of the event’s proceedings is scheduled for release.
Preserving the unique Baikal ecosystem is a key priority for fulfilling national strategic objectives, which necessitates a collaborative approach across government, academia, and the private sector. The Baikal International Ecological Congress is designed to serve as this essential collaborative platform.
