International ‘Garden of Remembrance’ campaign
The international “Memorial Garden” campaign will start on 18 March 2026, in the southern regions of Russia, as well as in other countries. Between March and June, participants will plant at least 27 million trees, one for each Soviet citizen who died during the Great Patriotic War.
In the six years since the campaign was launched, hundreds of thousands of volunteers have planted more than 160 million trees. Last year, participants from 83 countries were involved in the campaign to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. Trees were also planted as part of the Nevsky International Ecological Congress 2025.
The campaign is held annually at the instruction of President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin as part of the “Environmental Wellbeing” national project. It is organized by the Memorial Garden non-profit organization, the All-Russian public movement “Volunteers of Victory”, the Victorious Commanders Memory Fund, with the participation of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation and the Federal Agency for Forestry of the Russian Federation.
Anyone can take part in the campaign. Just choose your region on the interactive map on the official website (сад-памяти.рф) and register at the most convenient place for you. Everything you need to plant the trees will be provided on site. Participants can also plant their own memorial trees and then add their locations to the project map.
